Apple launches HomeView hub, Apple TV 4K, HomePod mini 2, cites iPhone Duo delays
Apple unveiled a $299 HomeView smart-home hub, a fourth-generation Apple TV 4K equipped with an A19 chip, and a $149 HomePod mini 2, and said iPhone Duo pre-order deliveries have been delayed to early 2027, according to the company's announcement reported by MacRumors. MacRumors noted that the HomeView display is offered in two $299 variants—a wall-mountable model and a standalone speaker-base model, with additional mounting hardware sold separately. The Guardian reported that Apple launched the hub alongside refreshed HomePod and Apple TV models and introduced new accessories from LG and Schneider Electric.
Electrek said Apple and Schneider Electric unveiled a HomeKit thermostat that uses iPhone data to shift energy use to cheaper, cleaner periods, with a launch planned for the United States and Canada in early 2027. CNET observed that reviewers compared the 7-inch HomeView display with Amazon Echo Show and Google Nest Hub, noting its small screen and limited third-party app support. The Verge highlighted that the Home Collection emphasizes one-tap setup, privacy and Matter compatibility, and was co-developed with LG and Schneider Electric.
