Apple unveils Home Collection and HomeView smart display
Apple announced the Home Collection of smart-home devices and its first smart display, HomeView, highlighting one-tap setup, privacy safeguards and Matter compatibility, according to The Verge. MacRumors reported that HomeView is available in two $299 variants—a wall-mountable model and a standalone speaker-base version, with extra cost for mounting hardware. The Guardian noted that the HomeView hub launches alongside refreshed HomePod and Apple TV models and new accessories from LG and Schneider Electric.
Electrek said Apple and Schneider Electric unveiled a HomeKit thermostat that uses iPhone data to shift energy use to cheaper, cleaner periods, slated for release in the United States and Canada in early 2027. CNET observed that reviewers find the 7-inch HomeView’s small screen and limited third-party app support a drawback compared with Amazon Echo Show and Google Nest Hub devices.
