Actress Selma Blair arrested after incident on Delta flight from LAX to JFK
Selma Blair was taken into custody after a flight attendant was bitten and another injured on a Delta Air Lines flight, with authorities investigating multiple assault charges.
Selma Blair, 54, was arrested following an incident on Delta Air Lines Flight 938 from Los Angeles to New York that left two flight attendants injured. One attendant was bitten and the other suffered a laceration, according to a Port Authority Police source. The crew restrained Blair, and the pilot requested medical personnel at the gate, noting a possible head injury.
Port Authority Police and the FBI responded to the aircraft, with the FBI opening a potential assault investigation. Blair was transported to Jamaica Hospital for evaluation, where she was later charged with two state assault counts related to alleged actions in the ambulance and at the hospital. A federal summons was also issued for alleged assaults within U.S. maritime and territorial jurisdiction. She remains in custody pending arraignment.
"Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition," her attorney said.
Delta issued a statement emphasizing its zero-tolerance policy for unruly or unlawful behavior and its commitment to passenger and crew safety. Blair, who has spoken publicly about her multiple sclerosis diagnosis, traveled with her service dog, which is now held by her attorney.
