U.S. official says denaturalization of Rep. Ilhan Omar is possible
Border security adviser Tom Homan told Fox News on 18 October that the Justice Department could move to denaturalize and deport Representative Ilhan Omar if the investigation uncovers sufficient evidence. The comment follows a series of actions that began on 12 October, when Homeland Security Investigations agents executed a search warrant at Omar’s Washington, D. C.
, home as part of a federal probe into her immigration paperwork. The Justice Department later issued subpoenas to several of her relatives, and a Washington magistrate judge narrowed the scope of the search, citing congressional immunity. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said investigators intend to present the gathered evidence to a grand jury.
