Night Live UK mocks Shane Gillis after US monologue backlash
HuffPost reported that the British edition of Night Live aired a sketch mocking comedian Shane Gillis after his recent U. S. hosting monologue sparked widespread criticism for a sexist joke about women in gym shorts.
Gillis’s monologue, his third time hosting SNL, included jokes about gender, sexuality and historical figures, and described women’s gym attire as “whores,” drawing condemnation from viewers, actor Dan Levy, cast member Ego Nwodim, and comedians including Kathy Griffin, as noted by Variety, NBC News, Billboard and Page Six. SNL anchor Michael Che later said the joke was “comedy” and faced press questions about the backlash, according to Deadline.
