Kelly Clarkson criticizes Brooklyn retailer for perceived bias
The singer said she was treated as if she could not afford items at a Brooklyn store, accusing staff of poor service and warning others.
Kelly Clarkson posted on X on Oct. 10 that during a recent visit to a Brooklyn retail outlet she felt staff looked at her as if she could not afford the merchandise and suggested she might need a cheaper alternative. She wrote that the encounter reminded her of the scene in the 1990 film Pretty Woman where a salesperson dismisses a customer.
Clarkson, who relocated to New York City in 2023 and currently coaches on season 30 of The Voice, said the incident resulted in a lost sale for the store and urged followers to avoid the location if they value respectful service.
The singer has recently stepped back from her daytime talk show to focus on family matters and continues her role as a judge on The Voice.
