ICE vehicle collision in Houston leads to misidentification of deceased immigrant, advocates demand transparency
An immigration rights group said ICE mistakenly used a photo of a man who died in 2017 as a wanted fugitive after an ICE agent's SUV struck Miguel Parra-Hernandez in Houston on Oct 8, 2026, and the group is demanding release of body-camera footage. The collision occurred while agents pursued a separate immigration target in a Harris County parking lot; the 48-year-old immigrant suffered broken leg, hip and ankle injuries and was taken to hospital.
Harris County District Attorney Sean Teare later said video evidence showed the vehicle was deliberately driven into the victim, and the prosecutor said a felony assault charge is being considered. A senior DHS official said the ICE officer has been placed on administrative leave as internal and criminal investigations continue.
