NFL Referees Association to Appeal Officials' Suspensions
The NFL Referees Association said on Oct 6 it will contest the one-game suspension of referee Adrian Hill and the two-game suspension of line judge Jeff Seeman, and will open talks with the NFL Players Association on on-field conduct. The dispute began after the NFL Players Association condemned a line judge’s remarks toward Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride in Week 4. The league then announced investigations into verbal exchanges involving officials, McBride, Vikings linebacker Eric Wilson and a coach’s unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
The NFL later said it would review the incident, finding the judge used profanity toward McBride, which led to a two-game ban for Seeman and a separate suspension for Hill for unprofessional conduct. The Referees Association previously argued the penalties exceeded prior disciplinary precedents.
