Bears list Case Keenum as starter after he took opening snap against Jets
The NFL confirmed that quarterback Case Keenum will be credited with the start and win after taking the first snap in the Bears' 23-12 victory over the Jets, while Tyson Bagent played the remainder of the game.
The Chicago Bears have officially recorded Case Keenum as the starting quarterback for their 23-12 win over the New York Jets, even though he participated in only the opening play. Tyson Bagent, who was positioned as a wide receiver for that snap, remained in the game for all 93 subsequent plays.
An NFL spokesperson said the Elias Sports Bureau clarified that the quarterback who takes the first snap is credited with the start and the result. The league therefore attributes the victory to Keenum, whose career record now stands at 32-36, including a perfect 2-0 as a Bears starter this season. Bagent, who has a 2-2 record as a starter, is slated to begin the upcoming matchup against the Green Bay Packers.
"Good for him," Bears head coach Ben Johnson said after the game when informed that the win would be recorded under Keenum’s name. "I think the team gets credited for a win."
