12-Year-Old Girl Killed in Shooting at Baltimore Youth Football Game
A 12-year-old girl died after being struck by gunfire during a youth football game in Baltimore, while two adult men were injured in the same incident.
Baltimore police responded to a shooting at Leon Day Park on North Franklintown Road around 6:15 p.m. Saturday, where a 12-year-old girl and a woman had been wounded. The victims were taken to hospitals, and the girl later died. Two adult men also sought medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police Commissioner Richard Worley said investigators believe the gunfire stemmed from an argument between two men over a parking space, which escalated into a shootout. He urged anyone with information to contact authorities.
Mayor Brandon Scott expressed condolences to the family and called the incident a tragic loss for the community.
North Franklintown Road was temporarily closed while investigators continued to gather evidence. Authorities asked the public to call 911 or Metro Crime Stoppers with any tips.
