White and Hearn clash over promotion of Fury-Joshua fight
UFC president Dana White and boxing promoter Eddie Hearn intensified their dispute on 2 October over the December 11 heavyweight clash between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua in Cardiff. White asserted that he holds a promotional role in the bout, while Hearn responded by posting a video of White’s earlier statements that contradicted the claim. The disagreement follows a series of developments that began on 28 September when the British Boxing Board of Control confirmed that Matchroom Boxing, Queensberry Promotions and Saudi-backed Sela would organise the fight, with no official involvement from White or Zuffa Boxing.
Earlier, Hearn had denied White’s involvement after the promoter’s name appeared in Netflix’s press release, and Joshua said he would support Hearn if the dispute jeopardised the match. At a London press conference, Fury and Joshua confirmed the December 11 date, while later reports suggested the bout could be cancelled and replacement opponents considered.
