Eddie Hearn disputes Dana White's involvement in Fury-Joshua Netflix promotion
Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn said Dana White is not a promoter of the upcoming Tyson Fury-Anthony Joshua fight, which will be held in Cardiff and streamed on Netflix, after White’s name appeared in the service’s press release.
Matchroom Boxing chief Eddie Hearn said Dana White has no role in the upcoming heavyweight bout between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, despite the latter’s name appearing in Netflix’s promotional material. The fight, scheduled for Dec. 11 at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium and to be streamed on Netflix, was confirmed Thursday after months of negotiations over the venue. Hearn, who has advocated for a UK location, said the Netflix release incorrectly listed White as a co-promoter and omitted Matchroom and other parties representing the fighters.
"Dana White cannot be involved in this fight," Hearn told IFL TV, adding that the press release conflicted with existing contracts and that he would contact Netflix to correct the record.
White, the UFC president, had previously suggested the bout might be held at New York’s Madison Square Garden and claimed knowledge of the venue in earlier interviews. Those comments resurfaced on social media after the official announcement confirmed the event will take place in the United Kingdom.
The two fighters are expected to appear at a joint press conference in London next week as preparations continue for what promoters anticipate will be one of the year’s biggest boxing events.
