British regulator lists promoters for Fury-Joshua bout, omitting Dana White
The British Boxing Board of Control confirmed that Sela, Matchroom Boxing and Queensberry Promotions will handle the December 11 fight in Cardiff, with no official involvement from Dana White or Zuffa Boxing.
The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBOC) has filed paperwork showing that Saudi-based promoter Sela, Matchroom Boxing and Queensberry Promotions will co-promote the Netflix-streamed Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua fight scheduled for Dec. 11 at Cardiff's Principality Stadium. The documents do not list UFC president Dana White or his company Zuffa Boxing as promoters.
White was named in Netflix’s September 24 press release, prompting concerns because contracts signed by Fury and Joshua reportedly bar White and Zuffa Boxing from the event. Matchroom’s Eddie Hearn, who has publicly clashed with White, said the contracts prohibit their involvement.
Fury has said White helped lift his four-year U.S. travel ban after White appealed to President Donald Trump on his behalf. White’s business partner, Saudi businessman Turki Al-Sheikh, is financing the bout.
BBBOC executive Robert Smith noted that Sela has not yet appointed a British license holder, a requirement under BBBOC rules, and said discussions are ongoing. He added that Zuffa Boxing has not applied to be involved.
White has repeatedly claimed he will promote the fight, even suggesting the event could be staged at New York’s Madison Square Garden. At the launch press conference, Michael Buffer listed the promoters without mentioning White.
