Malik Nabers returns to Giants lineup after year-long injury layoff
Wide receiver Malik Nabers made his first appearance for the New York Giants in nearly a year, contributing six catches for 69 yards in a 28-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Wide receiver Malik Nabers rejoined the New York Giants’ active roster on Sunday night, playing his first snaps since tearing his ACL last September. The Giants defeated the Dallas Cowboys 28-20, and Nabers recorded six receptions for 69 yards.
Nabers said he felt a sudden confidence during pregame warmups and decided to stay in the game, telling his family not to attend so he would not risk disappointing them.
"The deciding factor was just when I got out there, I just felt good. I felt good. I got a little chill through my body and I was like, ‘Yeah, it’s time. It’s time.’"
Quarterback Jaxson Dart noted that head coach John Harbaugh had tackled Nabers during a walkthrough earlier in the week to demonstrate his readiness. Dart praised Nabers as a reliable target regardless of defensive coverage.
"It was great, it was great. He’s just a guy where, no matter what the coverage is, no matter who they put out there on him, you have all the confidence in the world that he’s going to make a play."
The performance gave the Giants a promising start to Nabers’ comeback, and the team will look for increased production as the season progresses.
