In New York City, Jimmy Kimmel was reported to be negotiating a new contract with ABC, with the network seeking to reduce the show's budget, according to Deadline. Earlier in September, Variety said the two parties were in talks to extend the contract beyond the 2026-27 season amid declining ad revenue. Prior to that, Page Six had suggested the show might end after its 24th season, but ABC publicly refuted those claims, stating the future of the program remained uncertain.
