Amazon MGM Studios extended the theatrical run of Sacha Baron Cohen's comedy 'Ali G: Who Iz I? ' in the United Kingdom ahead of its upcoming Prime Video debut, The Hollywood Reporter said. The film was originally slated for an October 23 theatrical release, a date that attracted boycott calls and safety concerns, according to an earlier report by The Hollywood Reporter.
Cohen defended the project, saying its controversial edge made it relevant, as reported by The Independent. The Guardian noted that the new Ali G installment returns to the character's prank-style format while commenting on contemporary cultural debates. After a two-day cinema run, the movie was set to move to Prime Video on the following, The Hollywood Reporter reported.
