Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced on September 9 that New York City made public over 170,000 pages of municipal documents on air quality after the September 11 attacks, accessible through an online portal opened ahead of the 25th anniversary. Earlier releases had shown that city officials were aware of asbestos and other toxic contaminants near Ground Zero, contradicting earlier assurances that the air was safe, according to reports from CNN and Fox News.
