Hollywood Walk of Fame to Replace Dolly Parton Star After Vandalism
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will replace Dolly Parton's Walk of Fame star after it was defaced a week after her death, with a new star expected to be displayed on Friday.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced that Dolly Parton's Hollywood Walk of Fame star will be replaced following vandalism that occurred a week after the singer’s death at age 80. Social-media posts on Monday showed dark markings on the star and described how a custodian had been cleaning the site after a woman kicked candles, causing shards to scratch the plaque, and a man subsequently stole the flowers left there.
"When we arrived a custodian was cleaning and told us a woman kicked candles around then with the shards of one scratched the star," a fan wrote on Threads.
Ana Martinez, a spokesperson for the Chamber, told TMZ that repairs had already been scheduled for Tuesday due to existing cracks, and that the recent damage was reported by fans on Monday night. The Hollywood Historic Trust, which maintains the stars, posted on Instagram that a replacement star will be installed and available for public viewing on Friday.
Parton received her star in 1984; it is located at 6712 Hollywood Boulevard. She died in Nashville after a brief battle with cancer, according to her representatives.
