Cast and Director Reflect on 'Coyote vs. Acme' Release and Themes
Director Dave Green and star Will Forte said the film’s courtroom climax conveys a message of perseverance as they reflected on its surprise theatrical release. Gizmodo reported that they made the remarks in a September 2 interview. The movie finally reached cinemas on August 28, 2026 after indie distributor Ketchup Entertainment acquired the $70 million project and scheduled a nationwide debut. Warner Bros. Discovery had shelved the live-action/animation hybrid in 2023, a development noted by the Los Angeles Times.
Deadline earlier reported that Warner took a $30 million tax write-off following a three-year delay. Slate said the film earned $15. 4 million and placed second domestically. The Hollywood Reporter added that the Los Angeles premiere marked the end of the three-year postponement.
