El director Dave Green y el actor Will Forte declararon que el desenlace judicial de la película transmite un mensaje de perseverancia mientras reflexionaban sobre su inesperado estreno en cines. La película llegó a las salas el 28 de agosto de 2026 después de que el distribuidor independiente Ketchup Entertainment adquiriera el proyecto de 70 millones de dólares y programara su estreno a nivel nacional. Warner Bros. Discovery había archivado el híbrido en 2023, según informó el Los Angeles Times.

Deadline señaló previamente que Warner tomó una deducción fiscal de 30 millones de dólares tras una demora de tres años. Hollywood Reporter indicó que el estreno en Los Ángeles marcó el fin de la postergación de tres años.
