Raiders coach says Ashton Jeanty still recovering, season opener status unclear
Head coach Klint Kubiak said on 28 August that running back Ashton Jeanty was still recovering from the ankle injury he suffered in practice, and that his participation in the season opener remained uncertain. The injury occurred on 23 August when Jeanty landed awkwardly during a Raiders practice in Las Vegas and was unable to bear weight on his right leg, prompting staff to halt the session. He was later diagnosed with a sprained ankle, but the team gave no timetable for his return, noting that the setback was not considered long-term.
Backup running back Mike Washington Jr. was expected to fill in, and Jeanty posted a Romans verse on Instagram, the New York Post reported.
