Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Return to the UK with Children After Six Years
Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their two children arrived in the United Kingdom on Wednesday for an extended stay, though they will not resume official royal duties.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle landed at Birmingham Airport on Wednesday with their children, Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, beginning an "extended" period in the United Kingdom. The family travelled privately from California, according to a report from The Telegraph. The children are scheduled to start school in England next week. The Sussexes also brought their two dogs, Mia and Pula, while leaving their chickens in Montecito, California.
The couple, who stepped back from royal duties in 2020, announced last week that they would relocate to England for an extended stay but intend to continue pursuing independent business activities. Sources said the move was motivated by a desire to be closer to King Charles III and to allow the children to develop relationships with their extended family. The king was reportedly informed of the relocation a few days before it became public.
Royal commentator Tom Sykes noted that the Sussexes have been looking at properties in the Cotswolds, an area about two hours from Windsor, where Prince William and Kate Middleton reside. The family remains estranged from the Prince and Princess of Wales.
