Police Conduct Welfare Check at Home of Hayden Panettiere's Former Partner
Greenville police performed a welfare check at a residence belonging to Brian Hickerson's family, unrelated to the investigation of actress Hayden Panettiere's death, while neighbors recount past disturbances involving Hickerson.
Police officers from the Greenville Police Department arrived at a family home of Brian Hickerson in Greenville, South Carolina, at approximately 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday for a welfare check, according to a department spokesperson. The officers knocked on several doors, received no response, and left after about three minutes. The spokesperson clarified that the visit was not connected to the ongoing investigation of Hayden Panettiere's death and did not require an incident report.
In a separate interview, a West Hollywood neighbor, Mia Terrazzas, said she had repeatedly called 911 to report disturbances at Panettiere's apartment and described a homeowners-association notice that warned residents to alert authorities if Hickerson was seen in the building. Terrazzas claimed the notice was removed shortly after being posted. She also recounted seeing Panettiere being taken away on a gurney by medical personnel and described past incidents in which Hickerson allegedly caused damage to the apartment.
Hickerson, who had an on-and-off relationship with Panettiere, was previously convicted of domestic-violence charges stemming from a 2020 incident, pleading no contest to two felony counts and receiving a short jail sentence, probation, and a restraining order. Hayden Panettiere's mother, Lesley Vogel, said the family had long tried to remove Hickerson from her daughter's life and noted his presence at the home when Panettiere died. A police incident report indicated that after emergency responders declared Panettiere deceased, officers escorted Hickerson and his brother out of the apartment.
