Von Miller to join Dallas Cowboys on one-year contract
Future Hall of Fame pass rusher Von Miller is set to sign a one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys, adding veteran experience to the team's defensive line.
Veteran pass rusher Von Miller is expected to sign a one-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys, according to a source familiar with the deal. The 37-year-old, who played high school football in Texas and attended Texas A&M, enters his 15th NFL season and currently leads active players with 138.5 career sacks.
Miller posted a photo of himself in a Cowboys uniform on social media on Sunday night. He recorded nine sacks last season with the Washington Commanders, matching his highest total since 2021.
The Cowboys plan to integrate Miller into a pass-rush rotation that includes Rashan Gary, Donovan Ezeiruaku, first-round pick Malachi Lawrence and other young players. While he may not be an every-down starter as he was with Denver, the team expects his experience to benefit new defensive coordinator Christian Parker.
Miller, an eight-time Pro Bowl selection and seven-time first- or second-team All-Pro, was the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2011 and twice finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting. He previously won a Super Bowl MVP with the Broncos in the 2015 season, playing alongside former Cowboys Hall of Famer DeMarcus Ware, who Miller has described as a mentor.
The signing follows recent moves by Cowboys owner-general manager Jerry Jones, including a three-year, $105.9 million extension for defensive tackle Quinnen Williams. Miller’s addition is intended to bolster the Cowboys’ defensive front as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
