Seahawks evaluate free-agent cornerback Terrion Arnold amid pending felony charges

Summary

Seattle Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said the team will conduct thorough due diligence before deciding on signing free-agent cornerback Terrion Arnold, who faces multiple felony charges.

Seattle Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said the team is reviewing free-agent cornerback Terrion Arnold after he participated in a workout on Sunday. Arnold, a former first-round pick of the Detroit Lions, is currently charged with four counts each of armed robbery and kidnapping and is awaiting arraignment.

"It’s enough right now that we had him in for a great visit, a great tryout," Macdonald said in a video interview. "We are going to do our diligence. There are a lot of people in Terrion’s corner that we respect as to the type of guy he is. We are going to work through that, and I trust our people to make the best decision for us." Macdonald added that the organization believes Seattle can provide a supportive environment for players. Arnold, who was released by the Lions in June after his arrest, is also scheduled to work out for the New Orleans Saints on Tuesday and has previously met with the Houston Texans, with interest reported from the Indianapolis Colts and New York Jets. In two seasons with Detroit, Arnold appeared in 24 games, starting 22, and recorded 91 tackles, one interception and 18 pass breakups.
