Apple updates several app icons in iOS 27 beta 5
The fifth beta of iOS 27 introduces refreshed Liquid Glass icons for Safari, Siri, Settings, Remote, App Store and Preview, while other apps retain their previous designs.
Apple’s fifth beta of iOS 27 adds a series of visual tweaks to the operating system’s app icons. Updated Liquid Glass icons are now available for Safari, the Siri app, Settings, Remote, the App Store and Preview. The Safari icon features a brighter blue hue with more detailed compass lines and arrows, and the Siri icon resembles the speech-bubble graphic shown when the assistant is active. The App Store icon gains additional translucency to highlight the individual strokes forming the letter “A,” while Settings adopts a similar translucent style. Preview receives a new design that places a loupe over a colorful background, and the Remote icon now includes finer detail and a gray background instead of black.
Earlier beta releases introduced changes to icons for Maps, Photos and Weather, but many other apps continue to display the iOS 26-era icons. Apple has indicated that further icon redesigns may appear in upcoming betas as it pursues a layered look consistent with the Liquid Glass aesthetic. iOS 27 is slated for public release in roughly a month.
