On 8 August, Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels said the veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs brings focus and experience, and the two plan to develop chemistry through communication and extra work. ESPN reported that Diggs signed a one-year contract worth up to $12 million on 6 August, reuniting him with Daniels and providing a veteran option alongside Terry McLaurin.

He made his first on-field appearance in practice the following day, debuting jersey number 18, according to Bleacher Report. NBC Sports later quoted Diggs praising the Commanders’ offensive talent, noting that Daniels, McLaurin and other teammates would be hard to stop.
