Commanders appoint Wes Welker as tight ends coach after firing Ben Steele
On 28 July, the Washington Commanders placed former All-Pro receiver Wes Welker in charge of coaching the team’s tight ends, ESPN reported. The move followed the dismissal of tight ends coach Ben Steele, who had been arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated on 7 June. Yahoo Sports said Steele was terminated after the June arrest and the team sought a replacement before training camp opened.
