Tyreek Hill says he still lacks power in left leg ten months after knee surgeries

Résumé

The former Dolphins wide receiver reported that his left knee still lacks strength ten months after two surgeries, indicating a lengthy rehabilitation before a possible NFL return.

Tyreek Hill, the eight-time Pro Bowl wide receiver who was released by the Miami Dolphins in February, posted a video update on his recovery from a left-knee injury sustained in September. The injury, which included a dislocated kneecap and multiple ligament tears, required two surgeries. Hill said he is still working to regain power in the leg and that progress is slow.

"So it's about 10 months after doing two surgeries," Hill said. "My left leg is the one that I injured. I have no power in my left leg at all, so I'm trying to regain all the power back in my left leg, but it's one day at a time."

He showed brief clips of himself jogging, but acknowledged that his first steps remain “rusty.” The 32-year-old, a five-time All-Pro, has not played since the injury ended his 2025 season after 13 missed games.

Analysts noted that Hill’s speed has been a defining attribute of his career, and any loss of explosiveness could affect his effectiveness. A CBS Sports researcher cited data showing a typical decline in receiving yards per game for wide receivers after age 30, though Hill’s limited 2024 season produced a modest average that may not be sustainable.

Hill also recalled earlier medical assessments that suggested a severe prognosis.

"You know, they told me I might not be able to walk again," Hill said. "And the doctor was like, 'Bro, we don't know what's going to happen with your future.' And now, look at me."
