Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain criticizes Bruce Springsteen's political statements

Resumen

Jonathan Cain, a conservative member of Journey, told a podcast that Bruce Springsteen should refrain from political commentary in his performances, also questioning the meaning of the song "Born in the USA."

Longtime Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain said Bruce Springsteen should keep his politics out of his concerts. On the "Complete Disaster Network" podcast, Cain, who identifies as a conservative, told the host, "Guys like Bruce Springsteen should shut up, you know," and added that he found the singer "annoying" and "bitter."

Cain, whose wife Paula White-Cain serves as a senior adviser in the White House Faith Office, noted that he does not discuss his religious or political views on stage, saying, "I don’t preach it on stage. I don’t spend 10 minutes talking about it."

He also criticized Springsteen’s 1984 hit "Born in the USA," arguing that the lyrics convey a negative view of the United States. Cain said the song, which addresses the treatment of Vietnam veterans, is "a kind of a dis to our country."

Springsteen has previously used his tours to denounce President Donald Trump’s administration, describing it as "corrupt, incompetent, racist, reckless and treasonous." Trump has responded on social media with personal insults toward Springsteen. The interview resurfaced after being highlighted by music news outlets over the weekend.
