Josh Kerr shatters 27-year mile record in London
Scottish middle-distance runner Josh Kerr announced his aim to eclipse the 27-year-old mile world record, targeting a sub-time, according to a New York Post report on his preparation for the London Diamond League meet. He later delivered on that goal at the Diamond League competition in London, where he completed the distance in. 66, surpassing Hicham El Guerrouj’s 1999 mark.
The New York Times reported the new mark, describing Kerr’s performance as a breakthrough. The Associated Press confirmed the time and noted that the record had stood for more than two decades. Yahoo Sports also highlighted the achievement, emphasizing that Kerr’s run set a new world standard for the mile.
