Earlier that morning, ballistic missile attacks hit the capital, wounding at least two and triggering explosions, fires and citywide air-raid alerts, the Kyiv Independent said. A subsequent wave of missiles and strike drones hit Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, destroying an apartment block and prompting officials to warn of further attacks, the same outlet added.
The New York Times noted that multiple explosions and fires erupted across Kyiv after the attacks, prompting residents to take shelter and officials to confirm injuries. State Emergency Service teams responded to the blaze on the hotel roof, confirming five injuries, according to NBC News.
