Prince Harry reunites with King Charles at Highgrove while Prince William remains out of contact
Prince Harry met his father King Charles III at the family home Highgrove, but Prince William has not reestablished contact with his brother, according to sources.
Prince Harry met King Charles III at Highgrove House, the family residence where the brothers grew up, while Prince William did not attend the gathering. Sources said the brothers continue to have no contact, describing their relationship as "so broken" and noting that there has been no movement on William’s side.
Royal author Simon Vigar said Diana would be "devastated" by the current state of the brothers’ relationship, and author Catherine Mayer said the setting of Highgrove highlights the issue as a family, not a purely institutional, matter. In his 2023 memoir, Harry referred to Highgrove as a place of "peace."
William chose to skip the reunion to play in his annual charity polo match in Windsor with his wife, Kate Middleton. Royal expert Kinsey Schofield said William likely understands his father’s motives but does not plan to reconnect with Harry, adding that the future king’s priority is protecting the institution he will inherit.
Buckingham Palace confirmed that Charles and Queen Camilla hosted Harry, Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, marking the first time Charles has seen his grandchildren in four years. Schofield cautioned that a single meeting does not erase past events and that rebuilding trust will be difficult.
The siblings have been estranged for years, a rift detailed in Harry’s memoir, which also mentioned a physical altercation between them. Harry and Meghan’s trip to the UK proceeded despite earlier security restrictions, though they made no public appearances as a family and no photos of the reunion were released.
