Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce donate $26 million to charities ahead of planned wedding
The singer and the NFL player have contributed $26 million to 20 charitable organizations and are preparing a large private event at Madison Square Garden, which will be secured by a substantial NYPD presence.
Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce have announced a $26 million donation to a group of 20 charities across the United States, according to a report. The contributions include a $1 million grant to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, with the remaining amounts undisclosed.
The couple is also planning a private gathering at Madison Square Garden in New York City, scheduled for early July. City officials have issued a special event permit, and the New York Police Department will deploy a dedicated security detail for the occasion. > "I would be remiss not to mention an event that we are tracking at Madison Square Garden on Friday night," NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said at a briefing. "Our Intelligence and Counter Terrorism Division does assessments of events that happen across the city, and certainly all major events that happen across the city. So we will make sure that we have the appropriate resources based on their threat assessment for that specific private event as we do for all major events that are occurring across the city."
Law enforcement sources confirmed that additional NYPD and Amtrak officers have been assigned to the venue, and barriers have been erected around the garden. A congressional office raised a question about the cost of police resources for the event, but the couple is reportedly covering the security expenses.
The planned celebration is expected to involve a large guest list, though details about the guest roster and whether a marriage license has been filed remain unconfirmed.
