NYC permit filing suggests possible Taylor Swift-Travis Kelke wedding at Madison Square Garden
A street-activity permit filed in early June indicates that Madison Square Garden may host a large event on July 2-4, fueling speculation that it could be the wedding of singer Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
New York City officials confirmed that a street-activity permit was filed in early June for an event to be held at Madison Square Garden between July 2 and July 4. The permit, filed with the city’s Street Activity Permit Office, requests permission to set up a tent for 500 to 999 attendees, according to a report by The New York Times.
Dora Pekec, a spokesperson for the mayor’s office, verified the filing and said street closures around the venue are planned for those dates, but declined to identify who submitted the application. A source at Madison Square Garden said the venue has blocked off the same dates and is preparing for a major event, though the purpose was not confirmed.
The Times cited an unnamed city official who reported that the venue is planning to host wedding festivities on July 3. The filing is attributed to Winick Productions, an event-planning firm, whose president, Elliot Winick, did not respond to inquiries.
Representatives for Swift, Kelce and Madison Square Garden have not commented on the reports. The couple, who became engaged in August, have kept wedding details private, prompting public speculation about possible locations and dates.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani referenced the potential wedding during a news conference, noting that the city is accustomed to large events and expressing enthusiasm about hosting it alongside other scheduled celebrations.
"We are the biggest city in the country. We are used to big events, and we are incredibly excited for this one," Mamdani said.
"I wish them a lovely wedding," he added, when asked if he would attend.
The permit filing adds a new element to ongoing speculation about the couple’s wedding plans.
