Permits filed for street closures near Madison Square Garden ahead of possible Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce event

New York City Hall confirmed that permits have been filed to close streets and set up tents near Madison Square Garden for an event scheduled between July 2 and July 4. The Street Activity Permit Office listed a capacity of 500 to 999 attendees and noted that the closures will be limited to the area surrounding the arena.

Dora Pekec, a spokesperson for the city, said the permits are standard for events of this size and are intended to ensure safety and traffic flow.

"That just means they’re going to put proper protocols to make sure everyone’s safe and can get around," Pekec said.

The New York Times previously reported that a permit for street closures from July 2 to around noon on July 4 had been requested, and that the event could involve the venue. Anonymous sources also suggested that several Kansas City Chiefs teammates have reserved rooms at the Marriott Marquis for dates around July 3, which is located about 12 blocks from the arena.

City officials declined to release the physical permit and have not commented on the nature of the event. Representatives for the individuals involved and Madison Square Garden were not immediately available for comment.
