Israel Suspends Diplomatic Contact with EU Over Apartheid Comments
Israel's Foreign Minister Gideon Saar suspended diplomatic contact with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas after reports emerged that she likened Israel's policies to apartheid South Africa. Saar announced he would cease communication until Kallas addressed the remarks, which sparked a diplomatic row during a European Council summit.
The EU official did not directly refute the claim, leading to the formal suspension of contact by Israel. This diplomatic pause reflects tensions arising from the controversial comparison and the ensuing dispute between Israel and the European Union representatives.
