Spirit Airlines Ceases Operations Amid Financial Struggles and Rising Fuel Costs

Spirit Airlines has announced an immediate cessation of operations, canceling all flights and initiating an orderly wind-down. The airline cited financial challenges intensified by a significant increase in oil prices and other business pressures.

The company stated, "With no additional funding available to the Company, Spirit had no choice but to begin this wind-down."

Passengers are advised not to go to the airport and to visit the airline's website for information on refund status and next steps.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced measures to support affected passengers and employees, including agreements with major airlines to cap ticket prices for those needing to rebook canceled flights.

Spirit Airlines, known for its ultra-low-cost model, had been in operation for 34 years, employing approximately 17,000 personnel.
