U.S. Navy Shoots Down Iranian Drone Near Aircraft Carrier in Arabian Sea

On January 25, 2026, Iran unveiled a mural in Enghelab Square, Tehran, depicting damaged U.S. aircraft and warning against military action. This event coincided with the deployment of the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group by the United States to the Middle East amid escalating tensions over nuclear negotiations and regional security concerns. President Trump announced the deployment of a 'massive armada' toward Iran, urging Tehran to negotiate a nuclear deal.

In the days following, tensions further escalated when a U.S. Navy fighter jet shot down an Iranian drone approaching the USS Abraham Lincoln in the Arabian Sea. This incident heightened concerns of potential military conflict between the two nations.

In response to the rising tensions, Arab and Muslim states have intensified diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation and prevent conflict. Key actors involved include the Iranian government, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, and the United States government, with activities occurring in Tehran, Iran, and Qatar.
