Amazon Plans Additional 14,000 Corporate Job Cuts Amid Restructuring Efforts
Amazon is set to lay off approximately 14,000 corporate employees, marking the second phase of its plan to reduce its corporate workforce by 30,000 positions.
Amazon is preparing to lay off about 14,000 corporate employees, with the reductions expected to commence as early as January 27, 2026. This move represents the second phase of the company's broader strategy to eliminate 30,000 corporate positions, following a similar round of layoffs in October 2025. The upcoming cuts are anticipated to affect several key divisions, including Amazon Web Services, retail, Prime Video, and the People Experience and Technology (PXT) unit, which oversees human resources.
These layoffs are part of Amazon's ongoing efforts to streamline operations and enhance efficiency. The company has been focusing on reducing bureaucracy and flattening its organizational structure, particularly in response to the growing integration of artificial intelligence and automation technologies.
Amazon employs approximately 1.58 million people globally, with around 350,000 in corporate roles. The planned reductions would impact about 10% of its corporate workforce.
An Amazon spokesperson did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the upcoming layoffs.
