The Powerball jackpot has surged to an estimated $1.6 billion after no ticket matched all six numbers in Saturday's drawing. The winning numbers were 4, 5, 28, 52, 69, and the red Powerball 20. This upcoming Monday's drawing now offers the fourth-largest jackpot in Powerball history and the fifth-largest among U.S. lottery jackpots.
The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million. The winner can choose between a lump-sum payment of approximately $735.3 million or an annuitized prize of $1.6 billion, both before taxes. The annuity option provides one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5% each year.
Powerball is available in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. It is managed by the Multi-State Lottery Association, a nonprofit entity comprising state lotteries. Revenue from Powerball sales supports public education and other state-funded services.
The largest U.S. jackpot to date was $2.04 billion, won in California in 2022.
