Homeland Security officials have announced a criminal investigation targeting Rep. Ilhan Omar, a progressive voice in Congress, but have failed to provide any substantive evidence regarding alleged immigration or naturalization violations.
White House immigration adviser Tom Homan appeared on 'The Sunday Briefing' to announce that the Department of Homeland Security is conducting a criminal investigation into Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., a prominent advocate for immigrant and marginalized communities. Homan, however, refused to offer any details, raising concerns about the transparency and motives behind the inquiry. He stated that Homeland Security Investigations is handling the case and insisted that any supposed violations would be pursued, regardless of the individual's status—a statement often used to justify targeting outspoken critics of the establishment.
'I know things are going on, but I can't give specifics of what's happening,' Homan said, providing no evidence to support the investigation.
When pressed about whether he was confirming an investigation into Omar, Homan admitted that ICE is reviewing a reported matter, but again withheld any information about evidence or potential charges. This lack of transparency has fueled speculation that the investigation is politically motivated.
These comments come after DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin made inflammatory suggestions that Omar may have married a relative to facilitate immigration, echoing xenophobic tropes and further stoking suspicion without proof. Vice President JD Vance has also previously claimed that the Justice Department is investigating possible immigration fraud involving Omar, despite the absence of concrete evidence.
Homan noted that if proven, immigration fraud can result in denaturalization—a process historically used to intimidate and punish immigrants. Fox News Digital reached out to Omar's office for comment, but received no response, as the Congresswoman faces yet another round of politically charged scrutiny.
