TSA PreCheck pilots program letting non-ticketed visitors access secure airport areas

Resumen

The Transportation Security Administration has begun a pilot called Gateside by TSA PreCheck, allowing eligible members to bring non-ticketed guests into the post-screening terminal at 13 U.S. airports.

The Transportation Security Administration launched a pilot program called Gateside by TSA PreCheck that permits qualified non-ticketed visitors to enter the secure side of participating airports. The service is limited to travelers who already hold a Known Traveler Number through TSA PreCheck or a similar program and who obtain a Gateside authorization one to three days before their visit. Approved guests must pass through the TSA PreCheck lane, present the authorization and valid ID, and undergo standard security screening, but no additional fee is charged.

The pilot is currently operating at 13 airports, including Dallas-Fort Worth International, Los Angeles International, and Salt Lake City International, with plans to add more locations. Visitors can use the access to accompany passengers to gates, meet arriving travelers, or spend time in terminal restaurants and shops.

Orlando International Airport is not part of the pilot; instead, it runs a separate Experience MCO Visitor Pass program that also allows non-ticketed access to secure areas but requires a distinct application.

TSA officials said the program aims to provide a controlled way for families and friends to share more time together at the airport while maintaining security protocols.
