Tesla invites businesses to join Cybercab fleet program

Résumé

Tesla has posted an online form seeking companies interested in purchasing Cybercab fleets or providing related infrastructure, signaling a possible expansion beyond its own robotaxi operations.

Tesla posted a form on its website on Thursday for businesses that may want to buy Cybercab fleets or supply infrastructure for the company's autonomous-vehicle network. The solicitation, released ahead of a Cybercab event in Austin, indicates Tesla is exploring options to broaden its robotaxi ecosystem beyond in-house operations.

The form asks respondents to select from options such as fleet purchasing, mobility hubs, infrastructure support, event collaboration or other arrangements. While the company has not confirmed that it will sell vehicles to third parties, the move suggests a strategic interest in scaling the service with external partners.

Elon Musk previously said he was confident that Tesla would have autonomous robotaxis operating next year, though regulatory approval would vary by jurisdiction.

"I feel very confident predicting that there will be autonomous robotaxis from Tesla next year — not in all jurisdictions because we won’t have regulatory approval everywhere,"

Industry observers note that several firms are already building autonomous fleet management capabilities, including Moove, which operates Waymo’s fleet in multiple U.S. cities, and traditional rental companies such as Avis and Hertz that have partnered with ride-hailing firms. Tesla’s outreach could attract smaller operators and accelerate market penetration.
