Federal prosecutors say Daejon Love and Taylor Jamie Chan defrauded at least 26 women by claiming Love was a 49ers player and wealthy investor, prompting charges of wire fraud and conspiracy.

Federal authorities in Idaho have arrested Daejon Love, 35, and Taylor Jamie Chan, 18, charging them with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud. Prosecutors allege Love used dating apps to meet women, repeatedly claiming he was a San Francisco 49ers player or a rich real-estate investor, and used aliases such as Jon Love, Avril Lyto Love and Jordan Love. Chan acted as Love’s purported financial adviser.

"Love convinced many of the victims they were in sincere romantic relationships with Love, that he was a sophisticated investor, and that Chan was his investment adviser who helped Love grow a fortune worth tens of millions of dollars," the U.S. attorney’s office in Boise said.

According to the indictment, Love persuaded victims to provide large sums of money, including personal loans, promising nonexistent investment opportunities that would yield high returns. When the women exhausted their funds or questioned the scheme, Love allegedly cut off contact. Investigators believe the number of victims may exceed the 26 identified, with total losses estimated at about $1.3 million.
