Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez says contract talks are frustrating as season nears

Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez told reporters on Tuesday that the ongoing contract negotiations are "frustrating," but emphasized his focus on the upcoming season and his role on the field. He declined to discuss specifics of the deal, noting that the team knows what it wants and that details will be worked out.

Gonzalez also avoided commenting on recent absences from practice, stating that speculation surrounding his availability is inevitable and that he prefers to let the situation speak for itself.

The negotiations come as the market for top cornerbacks has risen, highlighted by a recent contract that set a new benchmark of $33 million per year for the position. Gonzalez remains under contract for two more years, and his participation in Week 1 will depend on the resolution of the talks.
