Indie Developers Adjust Release Dates Amid 'Hollow Knight: Silksong' Launch

Summary

Several indie game developers are rescheduling their release dates to avoid coinciding with the highly anticipated launch of 'Hollow Knight: Silksong' on September 4, 2025.

Following the announcement of 'Hollow Knight: Silksong's' release on September 4, 2025, several indie game developers have opted to adjust their launch schedules to avoid overlapping with the highly anticipated sequel.

Panik Arcade, initially set to release its roguelike game 'CloverPit' on September 3, has postponed the launch to September 26. The studio stated, 'We poured our hearts into our little game so of course we want to give it the best possible shot.' They added that the extra time will be used to further polish the game.

Talegames, developers of the adventure RPG 'Faeland,' originally planned for a September 9 release, are also delaying their launch. The company expressed that this decision was challenging, emphasizing their dedication to ensuring the game receives the attention it deserves.

Aeternum Game Studios, working on the 2D sidescroller 'Aeterna Lucis,' has postponed its planned September release to 2026. The studio cited concerns that the game 'wouldn't have the visibility it deserves' if released alongside 'Silksong.' Additionally, they mentioned the need for development kits to ensure a simultaneous release on all next-generation platforms.

Frogteam Games, developing 'Stomp and the Sword of Miracles,' has delayed a planned August 29 demo launch. The studio noted the challenges of marketing an indie game amid major releases, likening their situation to 'a little krill trying to not get eaten by a blue whale.'

Despite these adjustments, early September remains packed with notable game releases, including Necrosoft Games's 'Demonschool' on September 3, Rogue Factor's 'Hell is Us' on September 4, and Bloober Team's 'Cronos: The New Dawn' on September 5.
