Federal agents seized electronic devices from former Democratic congressman Eric Swalwell at San Francisco International Airport and later searched his Washington, D.C., residence as part of a federal investigation linked to sexual assault allegations.
Federal agents seized electronic devices from former Democratic Representative Eric Swalwell at San Francisco International Airport on Saturday and conducted a search of his Washington, D.C., home the following day, officials said. The actions are part of a federal investigation tied to multiple sexual assault allegations made against the former lawmaker, according to sources familiar with the case. Swalwell, who resigned from Congress in April after media reports detailed accusations of sexual misconduct, has not responded to inquiries from reporters. The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department have opened separate criminal investigations following the allegations. Three women who have publicly accused Swalwell of sexual misconduct told CNN they have been contacted by the FBI as part of the inquiry.
