Kurt Sutter Gives Blessing to Charlie Hunnam's 'Legends' Series

Summary

Creator Kurt Sutter said he supports Charlie Hunnam's FX limited series 'Legends' and clarified he has no involvement in the project.

Creator and former showrunner Kurt Sutter posted on Instagram that he has given his full blessing to Charlie Hunnam’s upcoming FX limited series Legends and that he is not involved in its production. He said the new show, which features Hunnam and several former Sons of Anarchy cast members playing fictionalized versions of themselves at a fan convention, is separate from the characters and mythology he created.

“I’m not involved with Legends at all, nor should I be,” Sutter said in the video. “It has nothing to do with the characters I created or the mythology. It is really about the show and the legacy of the show, and quite frankly, there are thousands of people who are responsible for that legacy.”

He added that Hunnam approached him early in the pitching process to request permission, and Sutter responded positively.

“Charlie came to me early on, when he was in the process of pitching this to the network, to ask for my blessing… I gave Charlie my full blessing,” he said, adding that his wife Katey Sagal also appears in the series.

Sutter expressed goodwill toward FX executives and former collaborators, noting that he holds “nothing but love” for them. He praised the script after briefly reviewing it, encouraging viewers to watch the series.

“It has my full-blown ‘Watch this’ because I’ve taken a peek at the script… it’s so well done, and I think you’ll dig it,” he said.

The series, described as a meta-comedy reminiscent of Galaxy Quest, will see the original cast confronting a real-world threat while blurring the line between fiction and reality.
