Seahawks lock up cornerback Devon Witherspoon with four-year, $132 million extension
Seattle signed cornerback Devon Witherspoon to a four-year contract worth $132 million, including $101 million guaranteed, making him the league's highest-paid player at his position.
Seattle Seahawks and cornerback Devon Witherspoon have reached a four-year extension, according to reports. The agreement is valued at $132 million, with $101 million guaranteed, which places Witherspoon at the top of the NFL's cornerback salary rankings.
The 2023 first-round pick, selected fifth overall, has been named to the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons and contributed to Seattle's defense during its Super Bowl LX victory. In 43 regular-season games, he has logged 32 passes defensed, two interceptions and 4.5 sacks, and added four passes defensed and a sack in three postseason appearances.
"The deal reflects the team's confidence in Witherspoon's continued impact on our secondary," a Seahawks spokesperson said.
With the contract finalized, attention shifts to other high-drafted cornerbacks, including New England Patriots' Christian Gonzalez, who is also pursuing a new deal.
